Something a little bit different this week but thought that you would like it as much as we did. I've managed to sit down with one of you and hear about an artist and album that you absolutely love. So much so, that you are even seeing them perform live on their upcoming World Tour that kicked off this weekend! That artist is Tina Arena and the album is called, 'Love Saves'.
I don't have the record yet but would happily add it to our collection, once hearing the amazing production levels and quality of songs. My earliest memory of a Tina album would be her debut 'Don't Ask' which came out in 1994 and my mum singing along.
It's time to #dropthestylus on our Guest Spin of Tina Arena's 'Love Saves'. Keeping things anonymous here and not mentioning names of our guest, but it's not Night Kat Kiz if you were thinking that.
RYLO - Q). Hi, Guest of our R'nR family! Thanks for taking the time this week to participate in our Guest Spin Sundays. I will be doing this from time to time to hear what albums or artists our readers love. This week you have chosen Tina Arena and I'm interested to hear your thoughts on her new album. Firstly, how did you come across Tina?
A). I first came across Tina on Young Talent Time and have followed her ever since.
RYLO - Q). Wow, she must have been really good on Young Talent Time to gain your attention instantly. I have listened to a bit of Tina Arena, thanks to my mum and have streamed the new album while I was driving for work. I really think it's her best work in my opinion. What are you favourite tracks from the album?
A). What are my favourite tracks from Love Saves now that's a hard one. I can honestly say I love them all but if I had to narrow it down I guess Church and House would be my favourites, but only just. They are all just so good.
RYLO - Q). I really enjoyed 'CAN'T SAY ANYTHING' and 'DEVIL IN ME' but agree that the whole album is good. You got the chance to see Tina perform on her new album this weekend. Have you seen her live before? What classic song are you hoping she performs?
A). I've seen Tina live twice, once at Sydney Opera House and once at the State Theatre. I was in the front row at the Opera House and was in total awe. Tina has such a beautiful voice and sounds the same as her albums. Also Tina is so down to earth. Seeing Tina live was something I never thought would happen so I'm so glad I did it twice. If I could choose a song that I would like to hear it would be 16 Years. For some reason that song always gets me.
RYLO - Q). I always love it when artists are as good live or better than expectations. One thing I respect is when an Artist takes the time to say hello and absolutely make your day. What other albums from your record collection have you got signed or met the artist?
A). I've only ever been to see Tina perform other than the Beach Boys when I was sixteen and they lip synced the whole concert. It was a disaster 😂
RYLO - Q). The Beach Boys! Even though it was bad, it was memorable. If you could see Tina perform in Italy, Spain or France, where would you choose?
A). If I was well enough to travel I would go to Spain, Italy and France. I think her concerts there would be an awesome experience.
RYLO - Q). Where does 'Love Saves' rank in your list of Tina Arena albums?
A). The album 'Love Saves' is my favourite. Such a beautiful album. Every track tells a different story or feeling. Tina is such an accomplished songwriter and artist.
RYLO - Q). Last question and after our discussions and listening to the album, I think I know the answer. Would you recommend this album to others?
A). I would recommend this album 100%, it's beautiful.
Guest: Meeting Tina on Saturday will be the last thing on my bucket list. I have been married to a beautiful man for 40years, had two children who have made us really proud and married wonderful partners and I have been blessed with two gorgeous grandchildren. I've travelled the world but unfortunately I no longer have my health so this Meet and Greet with Tina will make my life complete and when it comes time to pop my clogs I will die a happy woman ❤️
I hope that the show was amazing and would love to see some photos from the show in the future. I want to say hi to Tina from all of us here at R'nR with Rylo and I will have to add her record, 'Love Saves' to our collection, so I can #dropthestylus. I had 'Love Saves' and some of her older albums playing in the kitchen through spotify and the kids enjoyed it while we cooked dinner together. I love broadening our music collection and love all types of music - or at least willing to give each type a chance.
